Candidates awarded grace marks NEET-UG
1,563 NEET-UG 2024 candidates who were awarded grace marks to compensate for lost exam time will have the chance to retake the exam today, June 23rd, 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to revoke the grace marks after concerns about fairness in the grading process.
The decision came after petitions were filed regarding irregularities in the May 5th exam. These candidates were informed of their actual scores and given the option to retake the exam. If they choose not to retake the test, their original scores from May 5th will stand. The NTA expects to release the results of the re-test by June 30th.
• On June 13, the Supreme Court confirmed that these candidates’ previous scores would be invalidated and only re-test scores would be considered.
• The retest will occur between 2 PM to 5 PM, and results are expected by June 30.
• Protests have erupted nationwide over al- leged irregularities, including paper leaks and marks inflation.
• NTA officials will conduct the retest in seven centres, six of which are new, with oversight from Education Ministry staff.
